This Cobra replica is ready to roll with its extensive level of detail. The powerhouse behind the aggressive sound and performance is a 427 CID Side Oiler V8. These engines are among some of the most coveted engines ever produced by Ford, these engines were cast with a high Nickel Alloy iron, which was put through a slow-cool process that reduces stress internally. Also built with a webbed main and cross-bolted main caps to fully reinforce the block. The true horsepower was never documented on these beasts, Ford had rated these at roughly 350 during the 60's, but others had claimed to see power nearing the mid 400's. The engine is adorned with all the Cobra accessories, from the air filter cover, to the "Cobra 427" valve covers. Backing up the tremendous power of this V8 monster, is a 4-speed Top-Loader transmission, which during this time, was redesigned to replace the standard T-10 transmissions used in most Fords. The major workings were accessible through the top of the transmission, as opposed to some of the older models where they were accessible from the side. This repair actually increases to overall rigidity of the transmission, making this a solid drivetrain. To make this powertrain complete, the rear end is a Ford 9" built with 3.50:1 gear ratio, which slams this power to the street without missing a beat.
